About Us (Our Story)

Updated July 2016

Welcome to our Farm!

Mark & I (Kate) met back in August 2012 at a homeschool picnic (we both were homeschooled). My family had known of the Ritters for many years, but hadn't ever been formally introduced. As the night went on, some of his sisters & I started talking. I really enjoyed hearing all about their family & their Farm.

Later  that evening, his Momma invited us out to their family's Farm the following weekend... We had a blast that day- riding horses, fellowshipping & touring their Kennel. While doing dishes that night, Mark & I struck up a conversation and... as they say, "the rest is history!"

It was this day that we found out that we have a lot in common! We both love cooking (he went to culinary school & I worked for a caterer for 6 years). We also found out that we have the same favorite colors, love the same foods, have a lot of similar family background, both love the Country, love the same movies & music, wanted acreage, want a lot of kids, want to homeschool, share the same strong faith & even love the same breed of dogs (Miniature Pinschers)!

Mark is the fifth oldest of 25 kids. His family has an awesome testimony! His parents homeschooled him & raised him up in the admonition of the Lord. He grew up in northern Missouri & has worked with dogs for over 15 years in his family's Kennel. He also helped raise many other kinds of animals; including horses, pigs, cows, llamas, goats & chickens on their family Farm. Click here to read more about their unique family!

I am the oldest of 8 children. I also was homeschooled & was taught to love God & His Word-Law as a child. I grew up in a small town in Southern Missouri. We moved to the "big city" when I was 7, but I was always a Farm girl at heart! We always had dogs growing up & I loved being in the Country. I spent my teen years volunteering at a local stable & praying for a Farm of my own someday! My dream became a reality when God brought Mark into my life!

Mark & I started courting in September 2012. Our courtship lasted a year & we were married in September of 2013. We are still very much in the "newlywed" stage of our marriage, as we are madly in love with each other as the Lord continues to draw us closer together & towards Him!

It was always a dream of ours to have acreage of our own, to raise future children, our dogs (of course!) & all sorts of different animals, all for the glory of God! This dream became reality in June 2015. With the help of Kate's Grandparents, we purchased a small Farm located in Pike County MO, not too far from either of our families.

Cozily situated in the beautiful rolling, grassy Farmland of northern Missouri, we are located about 2 hours north of St Louis & Lambert airport. We have 3 acres of land & a 115 year old Farmhouse (which we LOVE restoring & rennovating!). Right now we are still in the "beautifying/ restoration" phase, as we just recently purchased this property. I (Kate) will finally be able to have my white picket fence & Knockout rose bushes! :)

Our goal is to live off the land as much as possible by planting a big garden, having a large orchard, possibly putting in a small pond, raising our own chickens, eggs, pigs etc.

We currently have some barn cats, lots of chickens, two horses, a llama, a miniature horse, some Guineas & a bottle calf.

As you may have seen, our faith is very important to us. It is more than "religion" - we have a relationship with our Savior. Our faith has drastically changed every aspect of our lives. We are nothing without our Lord! Our life's purpose is to glorify God & enjoy Him forever!

We look forward to working with you to bring home your "forever puppy!"

In Christ,
Mark & Kate Ritter

Meet Our Family

While Mark & I believe that "children are a gift from the Lord" (Psalm 127:3-5), He has not seen fit to give us children of our own yet. We wait patiently for His Perfect Timing. As Mark & I are both adopted, we also plan on adopting in the future, if the Lord wills it.

In the meantime, our "family" consists of us, our dogs & our Farm animals!

You can see some photos of our dogs pictured below, in some of our family photos. They make us laugh & entertain us to no end! We love them & they are our spoiled-rotten "babies!"

Thank you for taking to the time to read about us & our family. We are real people- sinners, with real stories of God's undeserved, redemptive Grace in our lives. Feel free to ask us more about our Faith, if you have any questions! We love Jesus & we are nothing without our Savior!
